Jon Sim netted a hat trick and the game winning shootout goal in his first game with Bridgeport. Amazing. Good for him!

1st period: The Isles will go into the first intermission trailing 3-0 and will be down a man from a Wisniewski penalty. These three goals aren't exactly all DiPietro's fault, look at the defense. They need to be more aggressive and help DP out more. The offense needs to continue generating shots on goal and they have to get in front of the net as well. No goals are going to come if no ones in front of the net. The Hurricanes out shot the Isles 15-9 as we head into the first. The Islanders took a 5-0 lead in face offs though, but the Hurricanes came back to even it up as well as taking the face off lead.

2nd period: Now the Isles go into the second intermission trailing by two more, 5-0. The first goal of the period obviously was by the Hurricanes as DP failed to cover the puck up and it was fired home. Then, DP got interfered with in front but the refs declared that Martinek pushed the Hurricane into DiPietro. Martinek went off the ice after taking a stick to the face on the goal. Tavares went off the ice as well after being high sticked, this time drawing the penalty. The Isles were on a 5 on 3 power play and failed to capitalize as Tavares drew the penalty for four minutes. Yawn.

3rd period: Grabner lit the lamp early in the third for his third of the season from Weight. The Hurricanes would take the 6-1 lead then Parenteau scored a power play goal for his third as well, a well deserved goal for him. The Hurricanes answered back with Matsumato scoring his second NHL goal and second of the game. The Islanders need to get their game together before playing the Senators tomorrow night. Expect to see Roloson in net with DiPietro and Roloson sharing these back to back games.
