My 2010-2011 Isles Forward Predictions

We're less then a week away from the Isles home opener. So I thought it would be a good time to give my predictions for the 2010-2011 season...

Josh Bailey: Scored a goal last night vs the Devils. Will be productive this season. Had 16 goals in 78 games last season, I don't see why he can't add four more for twenty.

Blake Comeau: Had a breakout last half of the 2009-2010 season. I say about 25 goals. It depends on if he gets up to a slow start of the season, or a Moulson start of the season. I believe he'll get off to a good start being that he had a goal in the scrimmage, and also in the preseason game last night.

Trevor Gillies: Gillies isn't here to score. He's here to stand up for his teammates, add some energy to the game, and do whatever it takes to win. He plays his role perfectly. At least the fans think so.

Trent Hunter: Had a great start of the season, got injured and came back to finish the season with 11 goals. He's got size, a nice shot, and I'd say about 15-20 goals this season for Hunter.

Zenon Konopka: Just like Gillies, he's here to stand up for his teammates, add energy to the game, and do whatever it takes to win. He scored a good amount of goals in the AHL, and he had a goal in the scrimmage last week. Can he play more than one role? We'll see. I'd say about 10 goals.

Matt Moulson: His office is...right in front of the net. If he keeps going to the net, taking those shots or tipping them in, getting in the defense's face, he can get up to 30 or more goals again.

Frans Nielsen: Great in the shootouts with his "famous" move. Missed some time after being hit by newly signed Islander Mike Mottau. Only has 26 goals in 166 NHL games with the Islanders, but I predict about 15 for him.

Kyle Okposo: Had shoulder surgery Friday. He's expected to be back by December, so if everything goes well, I would expect over 15 goals from Okposo.

PA Parenteau: Didn't really get a good chance with the Rangers. Great in shootouts, even scored in the skills competition. He produced in the AHL but didn't get a good shot with the Rangers. Scored over twenty goals with the Hartford Wolf Pack, so I would say about 20 for Parenteau with the Isles.

Rob Schremp: Injured in Friday night's game against the Devils. Didn't play last night at the Coliseum against the Devils, and still no explanation from the Isles other then him getting x rays. We should find out soon, but Schrempo should get no less then 15.

John Tavares: Worked on his skating over the summer. He's got the ability to make great plays and put the puck in the net. 24 goals for his rookie season isn't bad at all, and he's going to take it up a notch this season. I predict he will net no less than 20-25.

Doug Weight: Weight picked up two assists last night, and I'm glad to know he's feeling healthy. We should be seeing him on the power play alot, so for Weight, how about 15 plus.

Jon Sim, Nino Niederreiter, Matt Martin and Andy Hilbert will be fighting for a spot this season. Hilbert didn't really produce much when he was here a year or so ago, so I'd bet him in Bridgeport. Nino will play at least 10 games with the Isles, then a decision will be made. Simmer loves to annoy the players on the ice, but I'm not too sure if he's going to land a spot, as the Isles are trying to give the rookies some chances. Also, Martin could end up like a Clarkson Jr, and hopefully we'll be seeing him around.
