Isles Claim Grabner

The Islanders have claimed forward Michael Grabner off waivers. I felt this was coming as I put on my rumor chart the day before on Islanders411. Great move by them as they need a little more boost up front. As you can infer, this indacates that the Islanders have been doing whatever it takes to improve their team and become a playoff team. They needed to upgrade their D, and they did by adding Mark Eaton, Milan Jurcina, James Wisniewski and Mike Mottau. With Okposo and Schremp being sidelined, they filled the hole that needed to be filled by picking up Grabner.

In 20 games with the Canuks, he netted 5 goals and 6 assists for 11 points. But in 180 AHL games, he has 68 goals and 52 assists, one season netting 39. He has three thirthy or more goal seasons in the AHL. Pretty impressive, I would say.
