Habs Top Isles 3-1; Martin Nets First NHL Goal

Plekanac put one past Rolie early in the first on the Habs first power play of the game. No one would score until the end of the second, and it was Matt Martin with his first NHL goal from a pass to the front of the net. Martin later in the second dropped the gloves with Gill and prior to the fight, he placed two very big hits on him. The Canadians would score two third period goals to keep a 3-1 score.

I believe Martin who averaged 10:50 in ice time in just his second game with the Isles this season, should be kept up here, and even though he's only played two games he's already earned it. Whether it be big hits, fights, or points, Martin can do it all. He should of been up here at the start of the season, the only problem was he wasn't healthy.

Milan Jurcina went off the ice with an injury, so new right winger Burno Gervais filled his spot. Can these injuries get any worse?

Schremp
Okposo
Streit
MacDonald
Grabner
Hunter and Bailey (who are now back on the ice)

And now Jurcina apparently...
Who's next?

On a side note, Travis Hamonic scored for the Sound Tigers to give them the OT win over Manchester. Congrats to him for winning the game.

The next opponent for the 4-4-2 Islanders are the Flyers in Philly. I'd expect to see Gillies giving a good amount of ice time as he was a healthy scratch tonight. Hopefully we'll see Rick DiPietro in net tomorrow night battling against the Flyers and showing those nice pink pads in honor for breast cancer.
