Caps Defeat Isles 2-1; Niederreiter Gets First NHL Goal

The Capitals have defeated the Islanders by a score of 2-1. Well played game by the Islanders. It all started when Nino Niederreiter picked up his first NHL goal from a feed from Weight. Grabner and Weight assisted. Then in the second, Roloson was screened and Ovechkin fired one past Roloson to tie the game.

In the third period, with the Caps on a power play as Comeau went off for roughing, Ovi fired one from the blue line and it deflected off of Backstrom's skate and in. The Isles played hard but not enough to tie the game. They honestly did look like a much stronger team with the puck tonight, and they were playing the Capitals, one of the best teams in the league.

Player to mention:

Michael Grabner: Glad the Isles picked him up off waivers. He has great speed and generates great chances, all he has to do is finish on them. Picked up an assist on Nino's goal.
