BREAKING NEWS: Streit Out Six Months, Isles Invite Players To Camp

Updated 5:40: The reason for Manny Legace and Joel Martin is because Poulin and Lawson have some "soreness" and the Isles don't want to push it. Martin was apparently heading to Bridgeport to camp anyway, and Legace won't attend Isles camp till Tuesday, so Joel Martin will fill in tomorrow. Also, Kyle Okposo is suffering a shoulder injury, but it's minor to Streits.

My question is, will the Isles trade for Souray? There's been talk...
--------

Mark Streit will undergo major surgery which will sideline him for about six months after being hit into the boards by Matt Moulson at the scrimmage yesterday. Matt certainly didn't intend to hurt Mark, and Streit went into the boards in a weird way. A big loss for the Islanders...

Also, the Islanders have invited the following to camp for a tryout!..

Goaltenders-Manny Legace and Joel Martin

Defenseman- Anders Eriksson

Forwards-Krys Kolanos and Dean McAmmond.

Great job by the Isles, as well all thought there would be no invites. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a few more. Just hope that DP is healthy.

  1. On Souray, the Isles can't sign him, he is under contract to Edmonton, here is what Bob McKenzie just tweeted about Souray: My understanding is NYI have no interest whatsoever in Sheldon Souray, even with Streit's injury. $$$ just don't make sense.

  2. Interesting. I've heard they're trying to get him via trade.
