My Thoughts On The Signings So Far, DP, Camp

So, in this offseason, the Isles signed forwards PA Parenteau, Zenon Konopka, Jon Sim, Andy Hilbert, and Rob Hisey. They also resigned Trevor Gillies.

Obviously, the resigning of Sim and bringing back Hilbert are for Bridgeport and will be call ups when needed. They also signed Hisey, along with Hilbert and they are all on 2 way contracts for one year. Some people say Hisey could be like Schremp, we'll see.

Training camp is coming up, and there still hasn't been names of the players attending for a "tryout". I guess we won't know for sure untill September. Katie Strang should find out, as her Twitter status says.

So, atleast we know the Isles will get a foward, and HOPEFULLY a top 6. The problem is, Snow has offered alot to already signed players like Frolov, but they just don't wana play on Long Island. I wonder why...

On DP- Let's just see if he really will come back for training camp, and if he doesn't play any of the games in the first week or so, then we know something is up. The has been multiple rumors if the Isles will sign Niemi or not...I think they're just waiting to see DP's status, and hopefully, he'll be 100 percent this season. I know I've been doubting him alot, and it's certainly hard not to, as he has played below 15 games the past two seasons, coming back and injuring himself again, but hopefully, this is the year where he stays healthy.

I doubt we'll be hearing any more rumors regarding the Isles, since they're shooting to get their guy in training camp, but we might hear a little something spark regarding trades, or goaltending. Nothing much, though.

  1. Hats off to your blog so far. Good thoughts there on DP. For quite some time I was anti-DP, however, after coming to the realization that he isn't going to tap out and retire, we need him to return 100%. The last thing the team needs is another 3 goalie rotation, or Rolo playing every game. A healthy DP would only help the team at this point.
As far as the off season signings go, I see minor improvements. Yes, minor. As the Isles got a bit better, most other teams got ALOT better (at least on paper, on ice could be different).
That being said, we won't be seeing a top six anything in an Isles jersey this year and dare I say, nor should there be.
Garth set up a "5 year rebuild". I want to see this team gel a bit more before we add anyone in top six. I feel that as the kids develop, the needs of the team and the type of players we will need will change as well.
    Just my thoughts there.

  2. Thank you for your feedback! Looking forward to hearing more from you. Snow said he wanted to make the playoffs this season, so why not add a top 6?

  3. I can see them slipping into the playoffs this year with the team they have now. I believe that injuries can easily kill a few teams that run with that 1 top goal scorer (ie: The Rags with Gabby). If that one top scorer goes down, the team either steps up or folds. Most fold.
